Jorund, rey de los vikingos del Norte, ha sido engañado por Loki, el dios de la mentira, para entrar en el jardín prohibido de las Norns. Los demás dioses, indignados ante semejante afrenta, le han encerrado en el reino de Lukx.

Hundra, hija de Jorund, ha conseguido convencer a los dioses de que la culpa es de Loki, pero no ha conseguido que liberen a su padre. La sentencia está dictada y no piensan volverse atrás, aunque autorizan a Hundra para que acuda a rescatarle.

Sabiendo lo difícil de la empresa, Hundra visita al viejo hechicero Kaldar, para que la oriente sobre la mejor manera de cumplir su misión. Y éste dice que si entrar es difícil, más lo es salir, y que sólo podrá hacerlo si encuentra antes las tres gemas sagradas.
